Indie films wage an ongoing war with major releases for awareness and promotion in a cluttered market space. It’s a war independent films are losing. Some cool films deserve to be seen in cinemas with an audience of fans. Films like REC2, the terrifying sequel to the horror hit REC.
REC2 will be released in a few New Zealand theatres on Black Friday (13 Nov), and I’m helping the distributor – Vendetta Films – to get the word out. The catch? They only have a few thousand to market it.
So I pitched Vendetta to let me give away 75% (Five Thousand Dollars Cash) to any individual(s) who promote (Buzz) the movie REC2 in the boldest and most innovative fashion. They said yes.
To be in to win the $5k all you need to do is use the untapped power of your mind. How’s that for a recession buster? For more information, read here and here.
DIGITAL BILLBOARD for ‘REC2 Running of the Zombies’ viral in downtown Wellington
This pic is on the digital billboard in a prime position on the James Smith corner of Cuba and Manners St in downtown Wellington. Over 25000 pedestrians a day walk past with a high dwell time!! I managed to hook this up with a friend’s media company Tentacle http://www.tentacle.co.nz/digital-billboards/
On another note, Spanish people seem to like the original web viral (on over 800 hits) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CQcyhcB0ao …they like it so much I discovered it on youtube in Spanish! - someone has hijacked the viral and framed it for a Spanish audience!
This is one of our guerilla tactics - posting the link at the New World noticeboard & at cafes around town. We wanted to get the NW security camera footage but they said not possible because of privacy (oh well worth a shot!).
Don’t forget to check out the short and full hi definition extended version which has full zombie action including a TE PAPA MUSEUM CARPARK ATTENDANT IN A BOOTH getting a surprise attack by zombies!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNH-3daSJoc
