The Rec2 $5K Buzz Challenge

Indie films wage an ongoing war with major releases for awareness and promotion in a cluttered market space. It’s a war independent films are losing. Some cool films deserve to be seen in cinemas with an audience of fans. Films like REC2, the terrifying sequel to the horror hit REC.

REC2 will be released in a few New Zealand theatres on Black Friday (13 Nov), and I’m helping the distributor – Vendetta Films – to get the word out. The catch? They only have a few thousand to market it.

So I pitched Vendetta to let me give away 75% (Five Thousand Dollars Cash) to any individual(s) who promote (Buzz) the movie REC2 in the boldest and most innovative fashion. They said yes.

We also managed to get a small, but Zombie-riffic post on ZMonline.com!!
They’ve informed us they get over a million page impressions each month. With any luck a good crowd of those visitors will find their way to Rec 2.

The little furry undead bear met his new owner today. Being the generous guy that he is- not only did this fellow adopt a homeless Zombie Bear, but he donated some extra funds for us to pass on to the SPCA. I hope Karma smiles on him for that. ZOMBIE BEAR UPDATE 3 As his auction draws to a close, Zombie Bear thought he’d campaign by visiting an office building in the CBD. He got a little drunk and did some things he’s not proud of [see pics], but he did make some new friends. He’s also started his own group on Facebook [Search for: Zombie Bear Groupies] where he’ll be posting the photos from his various outings throughout the week.. he’s asked a LOT of people for dates to Rec 2. He’s a shameless flirt- hope his new owner is prepared for him. JUDGES COMMENT : Wow this little zombie bear sure got around. A big winning big on trademe plus 5500 views and he hit the radio waves too. Great effort all round.

Zombie Bear

We’re selling a Zombie Bear on trade me… he’ll have movie tickets/movie money to take his new owner to Rec 2 when it comes out…

We’re planning to post videos of him on you tube and wrangle him a mention on the radio programme ‘That’s the Story’.. it’s on Classic Hits and has an audience of around 75 thousand people.

The proceeds from the sale of Zombie Bear will be denoted to the SPCA to help living animals… as well as undead ones…
