The Rec2 $5K Buzz Challenge

Indie films wage an ongoing war with major releases for awareness and promotion in a cluttered market space. It’s a war independent films are losing. Some cool films deserve to be seen in cinemas with an audience of fans. Films like REC2, the terrifying sequel to the horror hit REC.

REC2 will be released in a few New Zealand theatres on Black Friday (13 Nov), and I’m helping the distributor – Vendetta Films – to get the word out. The catch? They only have a few thousand to market it.

So I pitched Vendetta to let me give away 75% (Five Thousand Dollars Cash) to any individual(s) who promote (Buzz) the movie REC2 in the boldest and most innovative fashion. They said yes.

200 ZOMBIES TAKE OVER WELLINGTON SUPERMARKET

This is the buzz of Wellington right now with a picture of the REC2 ZOMBIE in page 2 of the Capital Times today (62,000 readers today) and a One Network News cameraman following the event on Saturday!

Check out the web viral we made on youtube ‘Rec2 Running of the Zombies’ It includes  footage from the Paramount Theatre (the perfect start point) and the invasion of New World Chaffers downtown supermarket!! (now 4th most discussed today on youtube nz and being tweeted like crazy across the world!)

JUDGES COMMENT : Joining up with the annual zombie walk was a smart move. If there are other versions that captured this send them through. Reactions from regular folk always priceless. btw Where is the photo from Capital Times?
